Miss Thailand wins Miss Photogenic

Miss Thailand Fonthip Watchatrarakul won Miss Photogenic Universe and a second award for having the best national costume at the Miss Universe pageant held in Las Vegas on Monday night.

A22-year-old Mexican, Jimena Navarrete of Guadalajara, won the Miss Universe title. First runner-up was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while second runner-up was Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell.

Dutch judo great Geesink dies: IOC


Dutch judo great Anton Geesink, a gold medal winner at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and a three-time world champion, has died aged 76, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Saturday.

Geesink, an IOC member and honorary life member of the International Judo Federation, also collected 21 European titles and multiple national titles in a long and decorated sporting career.

A 10th-dan judoka he became a member of the Dutch National Olympic Committee in 1987 and acted as advisor to the Dutch Minister of Sport and was honorary life president of the European Judo Union.

Born in Utrecht Geesink wwas crowned world champion in 1961, 1964 and 1965.

Bank ATM holding B4m stolen

An automatic teller machine containing about four million baht in cash was stolen fromm the Bank of Ayudhya's Kachet branch in Rayong province on Thursday night, Rayong police said.
The thieves cut the bank’s security signal system, covered the CCTV camera with paper and then took away the ATM machine.
The hijack took only about 15 minutes and no one witnessed it as there was heavy rain at the time, according to police.
Police were investigating.
Staff of the bank had put more than four million baht in bank notes into the ATM late yesterday afternoon.
